Yes! I visited many towns this past summer and knew Setubal was the right place from the moment I arrived. Well, maybe I wasn’t so sure as I walked through the train station neighborhood ;) I’ll return in September to look for an apartment and hope to move after my daughter graduates college in 2024.
Clyde: thank you as always for sharing history; cultural gems of Portugal, and now also your own internal development and awakening. I'm enjoying seeing Europe through your eyes and I so enjoy our chance and planned encounters as we share our seeing and noticing. I look forward to being co-witnesses to our evolving lives.
Thank you for sharing your adventure, and thoughtful reflections. You encourage me to stretch my boundaries as well. After so much isolation during the pandemic it can be easy for me to be reclusive and go about each day’s routine as it is a busy one already. It’s a gift to read your posts, just as your soap blog has always been. And we still make and enjoy your bread recipe from a few years back! Adventure on!! 😀
Hi Mari! Yes, understood. In the past I have "played it safe" a little too much. It's one thing to be careful, but another to miss out on possibilities. I'm glad that we took this chance to find something wonderful. Yep, and I'm going to keep on cooking too! Thank you!
Wow, what a great blog post! Reading this inspires me to want to make more of an attempt at venturing outside of my comfort zone. Certainly not to the the extent that you and Dave have, but I'm sure if I just look around here where we live with a new attitude and outlook I might see things in a whole new light. As always, thanks for taking the time to write about your experiences and sending such positive messages. As soon as I see one of these pop into my inbox, I always drop what I’m doing to read it!
Carole! We feel the love from San Diego and we are so fortunate! Ahh yes! That tile class was so fun to dabble outside my usual medium of paint. I hadn't touched clay for such a long time. Can't wait to show you around our town. Love you! Your paintings are awesome too!
Thank you for your beautiful reflections on your new life journey in Setubal. I aspire to be equipped with the same sense of wonder as you have when I move there next year. I find your blog inspirational and encouraging!
Eileen, It's so wonderful to hear about your take on the blogs. I'm glad they give you a little bit of the flavor of life here in Portugal. I'm wondering if you're considering Setúbal as your future city too. In any case, I'll look forward to meeting your someday when you make it here. Thanks for your comment!

We fell in love with this city too. It really is a sweet spot. Good luck with everything!

You are home in every way. You have friends with whom to share joy, creative expressions, learning, and adventuring! I love your tiles!
